Biography Matthias Bundschuh

 

studied “Drama and Theatre Studies“ at London University (1988/89),

acting at “Max Reinhardt Seminar” in Vienna (1989/1990)

and graduated with honours as an actor at the “Hochschule für Schauspielkunst Ernst Busch” in Berlin, after having studied there from 1991 to 1994.

 

He works as an actor mainly for the theatre with directors like Luc Bondy, Robert Wilson, Jürgen Gosch, Michael Thalheimer, Robert Carson, Claus Guth, Peter Palitzsch, Jossi Wieler, Andreas Kriegenburg,(among others) and has been a member of the ensembles of the

„MÜNCHNER KAMMERRSPIELE“ (2001 to2005) and the

„DEUTSCHES THEATER BERLIN“ (2005 to 2008).

This autumn he will play in Gogol´s REVISOR the part of “Chlestakov” at the SCHAUSPIELHAUS ZÜRICH.

 

Since 2003 his work includes acting for film and television, working with directors like Ralf Westhoff, Chris Kraus, Andreas Kleinert and Angelina Makkarone (among others).

 

From childhood onwards he loves marionettes and since 1995 he designs puppets and sets for marionette theatre productions and directed

1998 Purcell’s DIDO AND AENEAS for the “Michaelis Marionette Theatre” in Cottbus and 2003 SALOME by Oscar Wilde in the “Künstlerhaus am Lehnbachplatz” in Munich

 

As an author he started to work 1999. Together with Boris von Poser he made an adaptation of Dostojewskji´s „The Idiot“and performed it in Berlin, Munich and Zurich

2006 he wrote a one man show- adaptation of Robert Walser´s “Jakob von Gunten“for the “Deutsches Theater Berlin” where he performed it for two seasons.

 

2007 he wrote the script WHERE IS WHO I WAS AND AM, a marionette short film based on a story by Franz Werfel, 2008 he designed the characters and the outlook of the film.

2009 this film was realised by producer Björn Jensen and Ginger Foot Films, with Helmfried Kober as DoP and directed by Matthias Bundschuh.
