In January 2009 a most unusual project was being done in Munich´s Stadtmuseum. Matthias Bundschuh directed a puppett animation film based on a story by Franz Werfel, which was written 1918 under the impression of WW I. Professionals such as DoP Helmfried Kober (Shoppen, Nanga Parbat) and Uli Schön (The Story of the Brandner Kasper, Nanga Parbat), staff of the Salzburg Marionette Theatre and film students were putting this story into dark-expressionistic pictures, which won´t let go of you easily. A film about the theory of marionette playing and the design of highly complex marionettes. Michael Hermann followed the shooting, in which one of the most modern digital film cameras has been used, the Red 4k.
